In Our Church Service:
St. Matthew Lutheran Church is a confessional, liturgical, traditional member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
We follow the liturgies offered in the Lutheran Service Book. Traditional organ music accompanies the congregation in the chanted portions of the liturgy and the hymns. The rich heritage of this service, combined with the deep truths of reverential hymns, is a much-needed anchor in the seas of change. Bulletins are readily available from an usher and include the full order of service.
Jesus welcomed the children to come to Him. We love having your children join us for the service. Children’s service handouts are available with the regular service bulletins.
The offering gifts given are an expression of gratitude and dependence on God. Visitors are welcome, but not expected to participate in the offering.
We ask that you speak to the pastor or an elder before the service if you would like to receive Holy Communion. In accordance with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we practice closed communion, in order to protect those who may not believe that Holy Communion is Christ's Body and Blood in, with, and under the bread and the wine (1 Cor. 11:28-29). You will not be required to participate in any way or be singled out as a visitor during the service.
After the service, we invite you to stay for coffee and refreshments in the commons. Sunday School and Adult Bible Class are offered after the service. Please join us for these excellent ways to grow in faith, hope, love, and the knowledge of God.
Welcome to St. Matthew Lutheran!
